Six-Week Recalibration · Day 6

Not Everything You Notice Needs to Change

As you become more aware of what your body is doing, there's something important to remember: noticing tension doesn't automatically mean something is wrong.

Your body is supposed to use effort.

Your shoulders may rise. Your jaw may hold. Your breathing may change. Your stomach may tighten.

Sometimes that response fits exactly what you're doing.

So we're not trying to create a body that never tightens, braces, protects, or uses effort.

We're beginning to become curious about something different.

A question to carry with you today

“Does this amount of effort fit this moment?”

For today

Don't go looking for tension.

But once or twice today, if you happen to notice your body holding, tightening, bracing, or working a little harder, pause for just a moment.

Ask yourself: “Does this amount of effort fit this moment?”

Maybe it does. Maybe there's a little more effort than you expected. Maybe you're not sure.

You don't have to do anything with the answer.

No fixing. No correcting. No score.
Notice, gather the information, and move on with your day.
