What if your body didn’t have to work so hard just to get through an ordinary day?
Maybe some of it helps.
But sooner or later, your neck tightens again. Your jaw starts gripping. Your stomach braces. Your back aches. Your breathing gets shallow. Or you simply get that familiar feeling that your body is working much harder than it should.
What if part of the problem is happening before you even notice the tension?
EaseOut6 is a six-week guided experience that helps you recognize the hidden effort that may be feeding your tension, catch it earlier, and begin giving your body another way to respond.
Begin EaseOut6Most of us have been taught to respond after the body gets loud.
Your neck hurts?
Stretch it.
Your back tightens?
Work on your posture.
Your hips feel stiff?
Mobilize them.
Your shoulders creep toward your ears?
Try to relax.
None of those things are necessarily wrong.
But there’s a problem.
Maybe you were gripping while concentrating.
Holding your breath while answering an email.
Bracing your stomach while driving.
Rushing through something that wasn’t actually urgent.
Using more muscular effort than an ordinary movement required.
Preparing your body for difficulty before difficulty ever arrived.
You usually don’t notice those moments. You notice what comes after them.
The tightness.
The fatigue.
The discomfort.
The pain.
EaseOut6 is designed to help you explore what happens earlier in that cycle.
There may be something happening underneath your tension that nobody has taught you to notice.
Hidden effort is the extra work your body quietly adds to an ordinary moment.
Not because you're consciously choosing it.
And not necessarily because anything is wrong.
Your body is designed to prepare, stabilize and protect you.
But sometimes that protection becomes more than the moment actually requires.
task + gripping
walking + bracing
movement + pushing
thinking + breath holding
doing + urgency
And because these patterns can become automatic, you may not realize how much effort you're carrying until your body gets loud enough to demand your attention.
“INSERT SHORT TESTIMONIAL HERE ABOUT CATCHING SOMETHING EARLIER.”
This doesn’t mean effort is bad.
Your body needs effort.
Muscles need to contract.
Your trunk needs to support you.
Your body needs to respond when something is difficult.
The goal isn't to become loose all the time.
And it certainly isn't to spend your day trying to relax every muscle.
Sometimes the answer is a lot.
Sometimes it’s surprisingly little.
And learning to recognize the difference can change the way you experience movement, exercise, work and everyday life.
Imagine noticing before your body has to shout.
You're working at your computer and catch your shoulders beginning to rise.
Not after two hours.
Now.
You're preparing to lift something and notice you've already started bracing before you've even touched it.
You're rushing through the kitchen and suddenly realize:
You're exercising and recognize the moment useful effort turns into pushing.
You're having a difficult conversation and notice your jaw grip.
You don't have to immediately fix any of it.
You don't have to tell yourself to relax.
You don't even have to make the tension disappear.
You noticed.
And now your body has something it didn't have a moment ago:
That is where EaseOut6 begins.
The goal isn't to become better at monitoring your body.
This matters.
I don't want you walking around all day asking:
“Am I tense?”
“Are my shoulders relaxed?”
“Am I breathing correctly?”
“Am I doing this right?”
That can become another form of effort.
EaseOut6 teaches you to briefly recognize what's happening while continuing to live your life.
Working. Walking. Cooking. Driving. Exercising. Talking. Resting. Getting things done.
What this can look like in real life
These do not need to be dramatic breakthroughs. Sometimes the important change is finally noticing something that had been happening automatically.
After beginning to notice tension during ordinary activities.
After experimenting with less effort instead of immediately trying to fix the symptom.
After beginning to catch a familiar pattern earlier.
EaseOut6 gives you six weeks to learn this with your own body.
This isn't six weeks of collecting information about the nervous system.
And it isn't six weeks of trying to force your body to relax.
Each week builds on the previous one.
Here's what we'll explore together.
Discover what your body has been doing automatically.
You'll begin noticing some of the ways effort shows up during ordinary life:
Rushing. Gripping. Bracing. Pushing. Breath holding. Preparing.
You aren't trying to eliminate them. You're learning to see them.
Learn the quieter signals that come before the tension gets loud.
Instead of only recognizing your body once you're uncomfortable, we'll begin looking for what happens earlier.
Stay connected without constantly checking your body.
Many of us disappear from our bodies when we're concentrating, rushing, helping someone else or trying to finish something.
You'll practice staying just a little closer while continuing what you're doing.
Discover how much effort the moment actually requires.
Not zero effort.
Not collapse.
Not perfect relaxation.
Appropriate effort.
You'll begin experimenting with doing familiar things without automatically adding the extra layer of pushing, gripping or bracing.
Stop turning every improvement into another test.
Something feels better.
So you do more.
You push farther.
You test it.
You try to prove you're finally fixed.
And sometimes you end up right back where you started.
This week is about learning to recognize improvement without immediately demanding more from it.
Recognize the quiet evidence.
Progress isn't always dramatic.
Sometimes it's:
- Catching something sooner
- Stopping before you overshoot
- Feeling support you couldn't feel before
- Moving with less hesitation
- Recovering more quickly
- Responding to tension with curiosity instead of immediately fearing it
During the final week, we'll gather that evidence and identify what you want to continue practicing.
“INSERT LONGER TESTIMONIAL HERE. Ideally this tells the story of what the person was dealing with before EaseOut6, what they began noticing, and what became different in everyday life.”
You don't need another program that becomes another job.
EaseOut6 is intentionally simple.
Each week you'll receive:
- One primary teaching
- One guided experience or practice
- One real-life experiment
- Short supporting reminders
- One optional live guided practice and coaching session
Plan approximately 30–45 minutes each week for the primary lesson and guided experience.
The experiments happen during things you're already doing.
You aren't expected to spend your day practicing.
You aren't expected to perfectly complete every lesson.
And missing a day doesn't mean you're behind.
Then we build from there.
You can keep exercising. You don't have to become a body-awareness expert.
You also don't need to:
- Stretch through discomfort
- Force yourself to relax
- Maintain perfect posture
- Stop exercising
- Calm yourself on command
- Analyze every sensation
- Complete long daily routines
You begin with whatever you can notice now.
Maybe that's your shoulders lifting.
Your stomach gripping.
Your breath pausing.
Your pace increasing.
Your jaw tightening.
Or simply the feeling:
That's enough to begin.
Why I created EaseOut6
I'm James Ko.
I've spent nearly three decades as a physical therapist helping people move better, become stronger and hurt less.
For much of my career, I focused on many of the things people are traditionally taught to focus on:
Strength.
Mobility.
Posture.
Movement.
Muscle imbalance.
Exercise selection.
Those things can matter.
But over time, something else became increasingly difficult for me to ignore.
They were strengthening while gripping.
Stretching while bracing.
Trying to improve posture by holding themselves rigid.
Trying to relax by working at relaxation.
And carrying the same patterns into ordinary life.
It made me start asking a different question:
That question changed the way I began looking at tension and movement.
EaseOut6 grew out of that work.
It brings together movement, body awareness, effort calibration and real-life experimentation to help you discover something that no exercise sheet can tell you:
Hear what the experience was actually like.

Is EaseOut6 for you?
EaseOut6 may be a good fit if:
- You frequently feel tense, tight, braced or guarded.
- Your tension keeps returning despite things that temporarily help.
- You become tighter while working or concentrating.
- Exercise sometimes leaves you feeling more tense instead of better.
- You catch yourself rushing when nothing is actually urgent.
- Your body seems to have difficulty settling after stress.
- You hold your breath, grip your stomach or brace without realizing it.
- You've tried stretching, strengthening, massage, posture correction or relaxation but feel like you're repeatedly managing the same problem.
- You want to understand your body's patterns instead of constantly fighting them.
EaseOut6 is probably not the right fit if you're looking for someone to diagnose a new symptom, guarantee complete pain relief, give you an intensive strengthening program, or provide a technique that forces your body to release on command.
EaseOut6 is educational and does not replace appropriate medical care, physical therapy or mental-health treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions
What if I'm not very aware of my body?
That's okay. That's part of what we're learning. We start with what you can notice now rather than expecting you to have sophisticated body awareness before you begin.
What if I fall behind?
Return when you can. The goal isn't perfect compliance. Each week has one primary idea and experiment so you know where to place your attention.
Are the live sessions required?
No. They're there for guided practice, clarification and coaching. Replays will be available.
Can I continue exercising?
Yes, within your abilities and the guidance of your healthcare professionals. EaseOut6 can actually give you another way to observe how much effort you're bringing into movement and exercise.
Is EaseOut6 physical therapy?
No. EaseOut6 is an educational coaching experience and does not provide an individual diagnosis or replace appropriate healthcare.
What if I don't feel an immediate physical change?
We're not measuring success only by whether tension disappears.
Your first change might be recognizing something you couldn't previously see.
Catching yourself before you push through.
Noticing a breath hold.
Realizing you're using more effort than necessary.
Stopping before your body has to make you stop.
Those aren't consolation prizes.
They're evidence that something that was previously automatic is becoming available for you to respond to differently.
Your body may not need another demand.
You may have spent years trying to find the right stretch.
The right exercise.
The right posture.
The right treatment.
The right way to relax.
Maybe some of those things helped.
You don't have to throw them away.
But there may be another question worth asking:
EaseOut6 gives you six weeks to begin answering that question with your own body.
Not by fighting it.
Not by forcing it to relax.
By learning to recognize what's happening early enough that another response becomes possible.
Stop waiting until your body has to shout.
